Dow combines science and technology to improve what is essential to human progress. Connecting science and innovation with the principles of sustainability, Dow contributes to solving the major global challenges such as the need for clean water, renewable energy production, energy savings and increased agricultural productivity.

Key player of chemistry in Italy, Dow has been present since 1960 and can count on a solid structure with the headquarter in Milano, industrial facilities on site (Parona est. 1976, Mozzate est. 1972, Mozzanica est. 1965, Fombio est. early 60’s, Correggio est. 1969, Pisticci est. 1986), and a Global Centre of Research and Development of Polyurethanes in Correggio.

The passion for innovation inspires and drives Dow’s growth strategy of investing in new technologies, new sectors and new geographical areas. The results are solutions that meet the major global challenges, environmental and social, and ensure the success of our customers and shareholders

Bologna hosts the Sales Department of Dow AgroSciences Italy. Offices include Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, Customer Service and other support functions. Dow AgroSciences investigates, develops, produces and markets products and technologies for agriculture. It delivers also a new impetus to the industry by offering formulations to comply with sustainability and safety requirements for the ecosystem and for those individuals who work with specific products to ensure a good control of animal and vegetal contagions.

The Dow plant in Correggio develops and produces polyurethane systems for thermal insulation and applications in the automotive, furniture and footwear industry. Those systems are developed, produced and delivered according to market needs. The polyurethane systems produced in Correggio are being used for different applications, such as insulation (fridges, composite panels for industrial construction), furniture (padding for sofas, chairs, toilets), automotive (seats, steering wheels, arms, door interiors, dashboards, air filters), footwear (work, sport, casual shoes), adhesives (recycling materials, corrosion protection for high-speed train bridges). Due to its own supply chain, the plant also markets and distributes the STYROFOAM™ blue slabs in extruded expanded polystyrene for thermal insulation of buildings, used in many applications worldwide.  The site is also home to the R&D Center for polyurethane systems, particularly for rigid expanded polyurethane, used in thermal insulation of refrigerators, cold chain and construction industries, and for printed polyurethanes, used mainly within the automotive, furniture and footwear sectors. The R&D Center in Correggio i also develops technologies for composite polyurethane-based materials.

The Dow plant in Fombio produces ion exchange resins for water treatment intended for industrial and domestic applications, including water deionization used in various industries, such as in thermoelectric factories, refineries, petrochemical, paper, electronics, food, and pharmaceutical plants. In 2011, Dow inaugurated the new plant for the UPS copolymer production used in the ion exchange resins. This new plant is based on state-of-the-art technology which allows Dow to produce copolymers of the highest quality available on the market.

Dow Italy is headquartered in Milan where general management and the sales and administrative offices are located. The offices host a broad range of Dow businesses, besides support functions such as Customer Service, Human Resources, Legal, Public Affairs and Finance.

The Dow plant in Mozzanica produces products for agriculture (fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides) aimed to protect harvests and improve their quality and polymer in water emulsions destined for different industries. In particular, four fungicides are being produced and/or formulated here to prevent crop damages caused by fungi and moulds (Karathane, Sabithane, Systhane, Indar) as well as four herbicides that control the growth of weeds (Kerb™, Glyphosate™, 2,4 D, Goal™). Among the most innovative products synthesized in Mozzanica, there is a new insecticide which is part of the “Molting Accelerating Compound” class, named Methoxyfenozide (Intrepid™). The plant produces high-performance polymers which include 60 different types of environmentally sustainable water-based emulsions used for adhesives within the production of packaging tape and labels, bases for construction paints and coating of tiles and leather.

At the Mozzate site, Dow creates special products for the adhesive market, mainly used for food packaging, the automotive industry and lamination of paper. Furthermore, the plant produces resins for artificial leather. The site also includes laboratories for technical support and development of new applications for Dow Adhesives customers. In April 2015, Dow inaugurated the Pack Studio Innovation Center near the Mozzate plant, a new innovation hub to lead the development of packaging within the adhesives industry. Designed to meet the specific needs of its own customers within the adhesive industry, the Dow Pack Studio also features a collaboration room where particular solutions can be found, including laboratory tools that are at the forefront for the development of materials, and equipment for the production and testing used for packaging applications. Dow customers and other interested parties within the packaging chain have the opportunity to collaborate on-site with the technical teams, as well profit from a global network of experts in the field of applications, materials and packaging design.

The Parona plant produces polyester resins for applications within the polyurethanes industry, including adhesives for flexible food packaging and industrial applications, as well as technopolymers and elastomers used in the footwear sector.
