While working on a one-year assignment, I further integrated into the area I worked in by joining the local korfball club, making me want to continue my career at Dow even more.

My name is Fokko. I started working for Dow Engineering Solutions as Contingent Staff Process Engineer in January 2015 supporting the Terneuzen Ethylene Amines plant.

I am a chemical process and product design engineer, graduated as Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) from Eindhoven University of Technology in October 2014. From October 2013 to September 2014, I worked on a one-year final PDEng assignment at Dow Terneuzen in the Performance Plastics Materials Science R&D group. During my assignment, I modeled the mechanical behavior of polyethylene blown film for quantitative prediction of the so-called dart and tear impact properties, based on tensile testing data.

My ambition is to become a highly skilled technological design professional in the chemical industry. While working on my one-year final PDEng assignment,, I enjoyed the many challenges and opportunities that Dow provided. While living in Terneuzen, I further integrated into the area, for example, by joining the local korfball club. This made me decide to continue my career at Dow.

Engineering Solutions is a great place to start your career, as you get to work with many experienced colleagues from a wide range of engineering disciplines and quickly learn how a chemical plant operates and is designed. Ultimately, this was one of the main reasons why I studied Chemical Engineering and Chemistry in the first place!
