“Starting an internship holds more value than one might initially realize. Beyond gaining valuable work experience, it has the potential to open doors to future career opportunities”.

After completing his internship, Shouhaib Aly Mohamed was thrilled when he was first offered to join Dow through the Commercial Development Program, and later became Marketing Manager for Dow perfume and cosmetic packaging in Europe. He saw this opportunity as a chance to contribute actively to a more sustainable future and drive the transformation that is needed to tackle the challenges of climate change and the environment. And he made it!

His expertise was instrumental in the collaboration with the LVMH group which resulted in a critical milestone in the sustainable journey of our SURLYN™ ionomers, a material of choice for perfume and cosmetic packaging.

Shouhaib & Dow soft diamond

"At Dow, we are constantly looking for ways to make our materials such as SURLYN™ - often compared to a ‘soft diamond’ - part of a circular economy without compromising on its quality. I realized that there was a strong need for circular & renewable versions of SURLYN™ to support the sustainability commitments of leading global luxury brands and achieving appealing packaging designs."

Collaboration is key to advance the world forward

“By partnering with different departments from Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics business – including Technical Service and Development (TS&D), Sustainability, Product Management, Sales, Communication, my mission was to ensure that SURLYN™ remained a material of choice in cosmetics and therefore new sustainable versions of this product were developed.”
