Jaume Alborna

Run Plant Engineer

My name is Jaume. Dow has played an important role in my academic career since I started my bachelor’s in chemical engineering at Universitat Rovira i Virgili in 2007. During the first year of my studies, Dow sponsored an award for the best integrated project, which fortunately my team and I won. Since then, I realized Dow had a strong influence during my studies as the company was always organizing conferences and visits to its facilities for the Chemical Engineering students. After I finished my master, I received the Dow Chemical Iberica Award 2014, and relocated to the UK, where I had already lived for a year through an Erasmus program. I started working at the Dewsbury Site in August 2014 as a Run Plant Engineer within the Dow Coatings Materials business (DCM). For 18 months, I implemented and optimized new processes and products which increased the plants´ production by 50%. In addition, I provided daily input and aid for operations issues, such as quality, productivity and reliability. In September 2015, I moved to the Improvement Engineer role being responsible for implementing capital projects and managing the process safety needs for the Dewsbury site. As of January 2019, I have I joined the Site Integration Team as a Project Engineer for the Tarragona Site, Spain. Joining Dow was one of the best opportunities given to me and I would define my experience to date as an everyday challenge, with continuous learning and great development opportunities, both personally and professionally.
