My name is Mauro Tarantola, I hold a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Politecnico di Milano and I’m currently Customer Manager for Dow Plastics & Specialty Plastics business. In my role, I’m responsible for selling Polyolefins and Elastomers grades across Italy for both the industrial and food market segments. I joined Dow in 2009 through a 6-month internship in process safety at one of the Italian plants located in the north of Milan. In 2010, I took on the role of production engineer where I spent 4 years working in manufacturing - being responsible for formulation processes, reliability and implementing tools such as Lean manufacturing tools. In 2013, I transitioned to an external manufacturing role as Operation Leader for Dow AgroSciences (DAS). During this time, I was in charge of the DAS toll manufacturing located in Italy and Greece. After a 3-year experience as an Operation Leader, I completely changed my direction and moved into the sales and commercial area. Firstly, I assumed the role of New Business Development Manager for Italy, being aligned to all Dow businesses, and in 2017, I took my current role as seller. I have always thought that a worldwide company would offer plenty of opportunities to travel, to meet people with diverse backgrounds and explore different career paths. At Dow, it has become more than that - with a lot of personal experience, multicultural environment, and support for any changes proposed. What I have learned so far from working at Dow is to be curious about the things surrounding you; understand the strategy behind and the reason why a decision has been made. Naturally, you’ll strive to learn new aspects of your job, new skills to develop, and new roles to cover. Job life should be a continuous learning curve such as life generally should be. Curiosity is still my main driver.
